About Zack Mumba

The Story Behind the Driver

Zack’s journey from his first karting laps at the age of seven to the doorstep of professional single-seater racing has been defined by dedication, discipline and determination. Now, as he prepares to take the next step into Formula 4, an exciting new chapter begins.

How the Dream Ignited

It started the moment I first sat in a kart. Growing up in Clayhall, London, I didn’t have the conventional motorsport background – no family connections in the paddock. What I had was an unwavering dream and the determination to chase it. At the age of seven, I began my karting journey and found my home at Brentwood Karting in Essex – one of the UK’s most competitive club racing venues. I enrolled in the Development Programme, designed to introduce young drivers to the discipline and rigour of circuit racing. In my rookie season, I finished runner-up in the Clubman Championship before going on to win the 2025 Summer Cadet Race League Championship – claiming the title by a single point after a gruelling 12-week season. In 2024, I was selected to appear as a young racing driver in the Mercedes-AMG F1 “Thank You Lewis” commercial – a tribute to Lewis Hamilton.

It didn’t take long to stand out.

First Wins and Podiums

After excelling in the Development Programme, I progressed into the Brentwood Race League Championship – the weekly race league where Brentwood’s best compete every weekend. I wasted no time. In my debut season, I finished runner-up in the Rookie Clubman Championship, then took my first A-Final victory. In 2023 I won the A Final in Round 2 of the Cadet Super League, earning the prestigious ‘O Plate’. Across eight seasons, those early wins grew into 14 A-Final victories, 15 second places and 11 thirds.

Club 100 – National Competition

Away from Brentwood, I tested myself on the national stage in the Southern Club 100 – one of the most competitive club karting championships in the country. Racing against drivers from across the south of England, I claimed a B Final win and a string of podium finishes, underlining that my pace is not just local – it is national standard.

Brentwood Champion

In 2025, everything clicked. I was crowned Brentwood Cadet Super League Summer Champion – winning the title by a single point after a 12-week season that demanded every ounce of racecraft and composure I had built over eight seasons. Now the work takes a new form. Off the track, I am putting in the hours on a state-of-the-art simulator, building the technical instincts and car feel that F4 single-seaters demand.

The 2027 F4 Championship. This is what it has all been for.

Thank You, Lewis

In 2024, I was selected to appear in Mercedes-AMG F1’s “Thank You, Lewis” commercial – the team’s tribute to Lewis Hamilton, filmed alongside some of the biggest names in Formula One. For a driver still competing at club level, it was a glimpse of the world I am working toward – and proof that my story travels.
